Getting and Staying Totally Fit

When did it get so hard to stay in shape? I never realized that staying fit as you age would be so hard. Although from all of those infomercials on television I should have guessed that there were a lot of us out of shape and in need of those fitness and weight loss programs.

There is so much discussed about health and fitness today. In fact, a Google search for "health and fitness" brings up 1.370,000,000 results.  That's 1.37 BILLION! A search for just "health" will bring back twice as many.  A lot of people are writing and talking about fitness. I think one of the reasons there are so many results is that the terms mean something a little different to each of us.

Total health and fitness means more than just having the ability to finish a marathon (although I would like to be able to do that) or to do "X" number of pushups along with "Y" number of situps. Total conditioning means far more than just being in good physical shape. Physical health obviously is a significant part of total fitness but as we mature we need to look at a complete package of fitness including our financial, mental and emotional health.

We must also keep in mind that being in marathon shape doesn't keep you from collapsing from a cardiovascular malfunction the next day or from getting some other serious and frequently deadly illness like melanoma.

Of course total  conditioning has a different meaning to the 40 year old person than it does to a person who is 75 or 80 years old.

These are just several of the reasons you'll find so many fitness coaches these days. Each coach may recommend somewhat different workouts simply because he/she may focus on eliminating extra fat while another concentrates on rapid development of maximum lean muscle. Or maybe one particular trainer may advocate a certain kind of home fitness equipment for a regular fitness regimen while yet another declare that you do not need any devices whatsoever - that using only bodyweight routines is the best way to go.

Which One is the Top Fitness Routine?

It's not that any of the fitness programs that I have personally used or seen is bad but there is no one piece of fitness equipment or workout routine that is best for every individual. We are all different. What's appropriate for a lean teenager trying to build muscle mass would probably not be advised for the older adult trying to shed some of that excess weight or to build up his or her endurance.

Selecting the best exercise routine isn't the simplest task if you are trying to do this on your own. Vince DelMonte, Jason Ferruggia, Tom Venuto, Mike Geary, Jon Benson and Jeff Anderson - all of the top fitness experts - each has one or more programs that are suitable for your forty plus individual but every single one of them is unique.

Many of the popular health and fitness experts have,in fact, designed several unique courses, each one focusing on a unique end user requirement. Our goal is to post actual customer evaluations of the different fitness products available with the object of making selecting one a little easier for you.

You might prefer to work with a personal trainer and might also have a favorite health club. They will be of great help in selecting your individual routine. This may seem like an insurmountable challenge however we will endeavour to provide the info you need in selecting one which fulfills your requirements.
